Painter, Photoshop

Done for the client Imagine FX Magazine
Most of it was painted in Photoshop with some bits of Painter for the work on her hair. One of my own images was used as reference for her arm. And since I have no idea about the real anatomy of dragons I checked some lizard images to have an inspiration for the features of the little one.
The original concept was to show how a sketch would come to life. While I was working on the lineart for the dragon tatoo, I flipped the upper part of the tatoo and suddenly it looked as if the critter would grow out of her arm. We liked this new idea, so we kept it.
Compositionwise I had to make sure that her face wouldn't be covered with the headline and also that the character would read well (-> that there would be a good colorcontrast to the color of the background). I'm more than happy to see how these colors turned out in print and I know what I'll be reading tonight!
A big thanks to Marcelo Furquim and Rob Carney who did the briefing and who provided me with feedback and inspiration along the progress of this work. Cheers!
I hope you guys like it. Thanks for your visit!
